“Kipper is shivering! Let’s finish these photos inside!” Brittany said. We all looked at Kipper in his adorable, yellow raincoat shaking from the cold. “That’s a good idea!” I said worried about their sweet, little dog. As we walked back toward Brittany and Will’s Fairfax, Virginia apartment in the rain, I smiled. Brittany and Will only adopted Kipper a few months prior to our session and they were already so in tune and such good care-takers. They had all the Kipper essentials and than some. It was clear, that they put Kipper first and were happy doing so.

Once we got into their homey, warm apartment, Brittany took Kipper’s raincoat off and they all began to play. All three of them looked so happy and content just hanging out together, throwing and catching a stuffed bunny. It made me think,  this is what it is all about. Togetherness, happiness, love. And love there was! In every detail of their apartment, in every word spoken and in every joke made, you could see that their life was full of love and admiration for each other…. and of course Kipper too.

Brittany and Will have been together since before Instagram was a thing and I absolutely admire their commitment and connection to one another. It is evident that they are best friends, partners and each others biggest support systems. Brittany and Will’s personalities complement each other. From High School to College, all the way to moving to Fairfax, Virginia together, they have been a united front that can take on anything and everything.

These two are such a unique couple, and their puppy engagement session was no different! Once we realized that Kipper was not a happier camper outside, we moved our engagement session inside. It was no longer just an engagement session but a session about the home they built, the puppy they adopted and the life that they had created.

Brittany and Will, you have found it. The happiness, the love and the excitement for your future that everyone searches for and I hope your happiness and love grows until the end of time! I cannot wait to photograph your wedding! July is too far away!!

“This…” said the Rabbi as he stood under the Chuppah, holding up a beautiful Jewish Wine Cup. “Is mine and Yossi’s Grandfather’s Kos (wine cup) which survived the Holocaust” the guests were quite. He continued as he poured the wine. “The Talit (a fringed garment traditionally worn either under or over one’s clothing by Jewish Males) that is part of the Chuppah above, was our Grandfather’s as well” and with that, he handed Sophie the cup to drink out of.  In that moment, I watched Yossi and Sophie underneath the Chuppah, the Chuppah that Yossi’s father built. They were surrounded by four generations of family, all lined up on both sides of this incredible couple. The entire bunch of them, were completely encompassed by these beautiful family heirlooms that had survived the worst of days and I felt a direct connection to the past and an abundance of hope for the future. There is something so immensely special and something so breathtakingly meaningful about a wedding ceremony like Yossi and Sophie’s. Every detail was carefully chosen and every aspect represented a part of their heritage, their family and their hearts. As Sophie took a sip of wine out of Yossi’s Grandfather’s cup, my heart was full of pride, admiration and a feeling of unity.

Yossi and Sophie as a couple are amazing in every way imaginable. One of the most inspirational parts about them together is the way they treat their family and friends. The love that I felt from every-which direction at their wedding was copious and never ending. One of Yossi’s nieces even sat on Sophie’s lap throughout all of the speeches! And with a family like this one, everyone had a funny anecdote, cute story or loving expression to share. Listening to Yossi and Sophie’s family talk about them as individuals and as a couple had me smiling and laughing the entire time. And the best part of all, throughout every single speech, I had the chance to  witness Yossi admire his beautiful bride with the most kind and loving eyes I have ever seen.

Yossi and Sophie spent the entire day laughing and dancing wholeheartedly with their closest friends and family. I have personally never seen two people laugh so much during their wedding ceremony but it was the quintessential  way for these two to tie the knot. Both the ceremony and the reception took place in Sophie’s Aunt’s sweetly stunning backyard… and what better place for a sweet and stunning couple, such as Yossi and Sophie, to start their marriage.

Yossi, Sophie your love is kind, your hearts are bigger than life and your smiles are contagious. Don’t ever stop being the “yophiest” couple that ever was!

Courtney was one of the first people I met at the University of Maryland. I remember like it was yesterday, we were sitting in the kitchen at Cornerstone Grill and Loft during my second training shift when we started chatting about this guy named Gary…apparently “he was super cute.” We bonded quickly and I felt like I finally made a friend at college and I could not have be happier.

All through school, I remember running into Courtney and Gary either at the court yard near our apartments, at the local bars, on the beautiful campus, in the cafe at the library, etc… Everywhere I turned, there they were, being cute and in love.

As time went on, I had the chance to really get to know Courtney and Gary. Courtney turned out to be the best, first friend a college girl could ask for. Courtney is smart, easy going, intelligent and always fun to be around. Gary ended up being way more than just super cute, he is definitely one the sweetest guys I met during my time at UMD and his excitement for life is contagious. Watching the two of them together has always made my heart smile.

Fast forward a few years and there we were, the three of us, back in College Park, MD walking across the mall towards the kissing bridge and all I could feel was complete and total joy to be back there with those two. Maryland meant a lot of things to me, but the people I met, the friendships I made, are irreplaceable.

Seeing Courtney & Gary together, planning their wedding, talking about their future felt as right as peanut butter and jelly. You could tell, by just looking at them, that they have been through thick and thin and nothing will knock them down. They are best friends, partners for life and each others biggest supporters and it was an honor photographing their engagement session. It really felt like I was capturing the past, present and future all in one moment and in one very special place.

Courtney, Gary… I cannot tell you how excited I am to be able to continue to witness and capture your love story on June 16th when you finally tie the knot!

Love always,

Yael

The second I spoke to Sylvia on the phone, I knew this was going to be way more than just a couples portrait session but the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Sylvia and I chatted for 45 minutes, it felt like five. We spoke about her life, her husband and how crazy busy their summer would be. By the end of our phone call, I was smiling ear to ear as I walked into my favorite place on earth, DSW.

A few days later, I had the chance to speak to Sylvia’s husband, Shmuel. From the moment I got him on the phone, I could tell that Sylvia and Shmuel were perfect for one another. The way he spoke about his wife, his love for her and his appreciation for everything she does made me all warm and fuzzy inside. I couldn’t wait to get them in front of my camera.

Sylvia and Shmuel met me at City Hall in Center City, Philadelphia for our couple’s portrait session. Naturally, the day we chose was one of the hottest days in July, but nothing stopped them! They have this warm, playful nature about them that makes photographing them a dream. I am in complete and total love with each and every photo we captured.

Sylvia and Shmuel, I cannot wait to see how your photo box turns out! I love your photos and I am so proud to call you two my clients and my new friends.

Alyse and Robert as individuals are truly amazing. Alyse is vibrant, intelligent, beautiful and incredibly sweet. Robert is kind, funny, handsome and cynically wise. Together they make this wonderful couple that is genuine in every way. Genuine in their words, genuine in their commitment and genuine in their love for each other.

This was not an engagement session, these two crazy kids are already what we single people consider an old married couple. We decided to treat our session as if Robert just popped the question, and let me tell you, the love is still very much alive; it is in the way they smile at each other, the way they look at each other and the way they laugh with each other.

I was honored to capture Alyse and Robert’s love for one another and cannot wait to photograph these two love birds again.

Keep living and loving Alyse and Robert!

It was 12:30 am on, Saturday, Sept. 17th (which is also Brooke Prince’s birthday), when I received a text from Pam, “Are you coming?” I was driving back to Philadelphia from Cape May after second shooting a 12 hour wedding with Mike Allebach. Pam has been like family since before I could remember. Her son, Tani, who is only a year younger than me, was having an engagement party in Baltimore the next day and Pam wanted to hire me to photograph the festivities.

First off, I cannot believe Tani is getting married! And secondly, I WOULDN’T MISS IT FOR THE WORLD. I mean, it was Tani! I used to drive him to school every day when I was 17 (sorry for making us late almost every day Tan!). I remember shooting baskets with him at like age 7. It was basically a no brainer…

So after working two weddings Friday and Saturday, the next day, I found myself driving down I95 from Philadelphia to Baltimore in the rain to Tani and Jordy’s engagement party. When I walked in, I not only saw a crowded room filled with familiar faces, but I also saw the amazing buffet of treats Pam had put together. It was truly a celebration and I felt honored to be a part of it.

The weather cleared up just in time for everyone to circle around the backyard and listen to some heartfelt, amazing and hilarious (thanks Ma’ayan) speeches. It was pretty cool to see Tani and Jordy together. I cannot wait for them to have a beautiful, happy and plentiful life together.

Thank you Pam. Thank you Tani. and thank you Baltimore community for being so supportive of my dreams.

Till next time,

-YPP
