Tati (father in Yiddish) walked into the room. Women were every where. Hair products scattered around. Dresses and shoes in every direction. Tati looked around at the chaos, unfazed, and finally his eyes settled on Chevi.
“Are you ready to go to the synagogue?” he asked his daughter, the bride.
“Yes.” She said with the same relaxed composure. I was in awe by both of them. Zero expressions. Tati had no reaction to seeing his daughter in her wedding dress for the first time. Chevi had no reaction to his non reaction. Both of them were just so matter of factly and seemingly so content and happy.
“Doesn’t she look amazing in her wedding dress!?” I piped in.
Tati took one look at his daughter, a small smile crept across his face. He shrugged “Of course, she is beautiful. Chevi looks great. She always does.” He responded.
Chevi smiled. “Where do you think I get my demeanor from?” She said as she admired her dad from across the room.
And with that, I smiled and we headed over to Congregation Emanu-El of Westchester to meet Jon for the first look.
From the moment Chevi saw Jon’s back as she walked up behind him to tap him on the shoulder, she was all smiles. When Jon turned around to see her in her wedding dress, she radiated joy in every direction. Her smile was big, her heart was evidently full and her eyes were twinkling with the sparkle of love, excitement and complete joy. Jon was just as happy, just as gleeful and just as loving.
Their love for each other is brilliant and pure on so many levels. Chevi and Jon’s relationship started off as an innocent friendship in high school and blossomed into an incredible partnership for the rest of their lives. They are an inspiration to us all, not only in relationships but in every day life.
Every detail, every word spoken, every whisper shared, highlighted who Chevi and Jon are as people; sweet, good and witty to a default. From the beautiful flowers by Brookyln Wildflower, to the perfect summer colors and all the way to the elegant five tier cake, Congregation Emanu-El of Westchester’s looked stunning, perfect and 100% like Chevi and Jon.
As the Synagogue glowed with the natural sunlight, you could feel the support, the joy and the love from all of Chevi and Jon’s most important people. Under the Chuppah, Chevi smiled at Jon, Jon smiled at Chevi and you could tell that they couldn’t wait to start the next chapter of their lives together.
First friends, then partners, now husband and wife.
Chevi and Jon, never stop speaking your own secret language, never stop being best friends and never stop being the best possible versions of yourselves. Wishing you the happiest of marriages and best of lives.
